Efficacy and safety of semaglutide on weight loss in obese or overweight patients without diabetes: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Across eight studies, semaglutide significantly reduced body weight, body mass index and waist circumference, with greater weight-loss effects at higher doses compared with placebo. Positive effects were observed on blood pressure, C-reactive protein and lipid profiles, but there were more adverse events with semaglutide, particularly nausea and diarrhoea.
